Every address Tether has frozen

Tether can freeze any USDT address. The coins stay visible in the wallet and can never be moved again unless Tether reverses it. Every freeze is recorded on Tether's own contracts, so we read them all and publish them here: how many, how often, and which.

As of , 10,882 USDT addresses are frozen by Tether, 8,054 on Tron and 2,828 on Ethereum, with 80 new freezes in the last 7 days.

What a freeze means

A freeze is Tether's decision, made on its own contract. Tether freezes addresses after hacks, on requests from law enforcement and for its own compliance reasons. An address on this list tells you what Tether did, not what the owner did, and some addresses are unfrozen later. Those are shown too.

If you are about to accept USDT for cash or goods, check the sender first. Funds from an address Tether has frozen cannot be sent to you at all, and once a stablecoin transfer does arrive there is no chargeback, so the check belongs before the deal, not after.

How this list is built

Tether's USDT contracts on Ethereum and Tron emit an event every time an address is added to or removed from the blacklist, and every time a frozen balance is destroyed. We collect every one of those events, from the first one recorded to today, and refresh every 30 minutes. Whether an address is frozen right now is its latest event, and we check that against Tether's own isBlackListed function. Each entry links to the transaction so you can verify it yourself.

We do not show an amount frozen, because a freeze records an address and not a balance, so any total would be an estimate. The destroyed figure is different: the destroy event records the exact balance, so that number comes straight from the chain. The data is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0 with a link back to this page.

Questions people ask

How many addresses has Tether frozen?

As of 27 Oct 2026, 10,882 addresses are frozen by Tether: 8,054 on Tron and 2,828 on Ethereum. 12,201 addresses have been frozen at some point, and 1,335 of those were later unfrozen. Tether added 481 new freezes in the last 30 days.

Why does Tether freeze USDT addresses?

Tether freezes addresses after hacks and thefts, in response to requests from law enforcement, and for its own compliance reasons. The freeze itself is recorded on chain, but the reason is not, so this list tells you what Tether did and never what the owner of an address did.

What happens to USDT in a frozen address?

It stays visible in the wallet and on block explorers, and every attempt to send it fails, because the contract checks the blacklist on each transfer. Tether can later unfreeze the address, or destroy the balance with its DestroyedBlackFunds function, which burns the tokens and records the exact amount on chain.

Can frozen USDT be unfrozen?

Only by Tether. No wallet, exchange or developer can move a blacklisted balance. Tether has unfrozen 1,335 addresses so far, and every unfreeze is listed here alongside the freezes. The route is Tether's own support process, with evidence of who you are and where the funds came from.

How do I check whether my USDT address is frozen?

Paste the address into the box at the top of this page. It opens the USDT freeze checker, which calls Tether's own isBlackListed function on Ethereum or Tron and links you to the same call on the block explorer, so you can confirm the answer yourself.

Does this cover USDT on every chain?

No. It covers Ethereum and Tron, which carry most USDT and where Tether's contract publishes freeze events. USDT on other chains is not included here, and an address missing from this list is not a statement about those chains.

Is this Tether's official list?

No. Tether does not publish a list. These are the events Tether's own contracts emit each time an address is frozen, unfrozen or has its balance destroyed, collected and counted by Veriql. Every entry links to its transaction, so any of it can be checked against the chain without trusting us.
